Risk Limits

Risk Limits and Loss Controls

AIFO risk rules operate at several levels. The 1-Step, 2-Step and Instant models use a Daily Loss Limit. Instant also uses a 2% total floating-loss limit, while Sprint has no separate Daily Loss and instead uses a 1% total floating-loss limit. Every model also has its own Maximum Loss structure.

Daily Loss Limit

For 1-Step, 2-Step and Instant, the Daily Loss Limit controls how much the account can lose within one trading day. It is based on the previous day’s closing balance or equity, whichever is higher. Commissions, swap fees, open P/L and closed P/L can affect the daily loss floor. Sprint uses no separate Daily Loss Limit.

Daily Loss Floor = Higher of Previous Day Closing Balance or Previous Day Closing Equity × (1 − Daily Loss %)
Daily Loss and total floating-loss examples by AIFO model
Scenario Calculation Result
1-Step, $100,000 account, 3% Daily Loss $100,000 × 97% Daily loss floor: $97,000
2-Step, $100,000 account, 5% Daily Loss $100,000 × 95% Daily loss floor: $95,000
Instant, $100,000 account, 3% Daily Loss $100,000 × 97% Daily loss floor: $97,000
Instant, $100,000 account, 2% total floating loss $100,000 × 2% Total floating loss must not exceed $2,000
Sprint, $50,000 account, 1% total floating loss $50,000 × 1% Total floating loss must not exceed $500

Maximum Loss Limit

The Maximum Loss Limit controls the account-level downside boundary. The 1-Step and 2-Step Challenges and Sprint use a fixed Static Maximum Loss floor based on the initial account size. Instant uses a 5% high-water-mark trailing loss floor that rises with the account high-water mark and is capped at the initial balance.

Static Floor = Initial Balance − Static Loss Allowance · Instant Floor = High-Water Mark − 5% of Initial Balance, capped at Initial Balance
Maximum Loss floor examples by AIFO model
Scenario Calculation Breach Floor
1-Step, $100,000 account, 6% Static Maximum Loss $100,000 − $6,000 $94,000 fixed floor; equity must remain above it
2-Step, $100,000 account, 10% Static Maximum Loss $100,000 − $10,000 $90,000 fixed floor; equity must remain above it
Instant, $100,000 account, 5% HWM trailing loss HWM $102,000 − $5,000 $97,000 floor; capped at $100,000
Sprint, $50,000 account, 2% Static Maximum Loss $50,000 − $1,000 $49,000 fixed floor; equity must remain above it

Consistency and Profit- Concentration Rules

Which Models Use a Consistency or Concentration Rule?

The 1-Step and 2-Step Challenges do not use a Consistency Score. Instant instead requires the highest-profit day to remain strictly below 20% of payout-period profit. Sprint requires the largest single-trade profit to remain strictly below 20% of total profit. These are different calculations and must not be treated as one universal rule.

Account-Specific Concentration Rules

Consistency and profit-concentration rules by AIFO model
Account Type Formula Requirement Example
1-Step / 2-Step Not applicable No Consistency Score No profit-distribution score applies to the Step evaluations
Instant Highest-profit day ÷ payout-period profit × 100 Strictly below 20% At $5,000 payout-period profit, the highest-profit day must remain below $1,000
Sprint Largest single-trade profit ÷ total profit × 100 Strictly below 20% At $5,000 total profit, the largest single-trade profit must remain below $1,000
Holding Rules

Holding Rules: Overnight, Weekend, and Market Conditions

AIFO 1-Step, 2-Step and Instant accounts allow overnight and weekend holding, subject to the applicable risk and conduct rules. Sprint positions must be closed before weekends and public holidays; cryptocurrency instruments are exempt from that Sprint closure requirement.

Overnight Positions

Positions may remain open beyond the trading day only while the selected model’s loss limits, trading window and closure conditions continue to be satisfied.

Weekend and Holiday Positions

Weekend holding is allowed for 1-Step, 2-Step and Instant. Sprint positions must close before weekends and public holidays, except cryptocurrency instruments.

Extreme Market Conditions

During abnormal volatility or major market events, additional review or temporary execution-related handling may apply.

Holding permission does not override daily loss, maximum loss, or conduct-related rules.

FAQ

Common Questions About AIFO Rules

What is the difference between Daily Loss and Maximum Loss?

Daily Loss controls the loss allowed within one trading day and, where applicable, uses the higher of the previous day’s closing balance or equity. Maximum Loss defines the broader account-level floor. AIFO 1-Step, 2-Step and Sprint use a Static Maximum Loss, while Instant uses a 5% high-water-mark trailing Maximum Loss capped at the initial balance.

Does Sprint have a Daily Loss Limit?

Sprint does not use a separate Daily Loss Limit. Total floating loss across open positions must not exceed 1% of the initial account balance, and equity must remain strictly above the 2% Static Maximum Loss floor.

Does AIFO allow overnight and weekend positions?

Overnight and weekend holding is allowed for 1-Step, 2-Step and Instant accounts, subject to the applicable risk and conduct rules. Sprint positions must be closed before weekends and public holidays, except for cryptocurrency instruments.

Which AIFO models use consistency or profit-concentration rules?

The 1-Step and 2-Step Challenges have no Consistency Score. Instant requires the highest-profit day to remain strictly below 20% of payout-period profit. Sprint requires the largest single-trade profit to remain strictly below 20% of total profit.

How do payout rules differ across AIFO models?

Eligible 1-Step and 2-Step accounts use a standard 14-day payout cycle or on-demand payout with the applicable add-on, with no mandatory payout buffer. Instant payouts are on demand when eligible; retaining a 2% buffer continues the account, while taking the full available payout closes it. Sprint permits one payout request and closes after payout. The minimum payout request is $100.

What are the main AIFO Sprint trading rules?

The first Sprint trade must be placed within 48 hours of purchase and starts a continuous 24-hour trading window. Only the first-traded instrument may be used, only one position may be open at a time, total floating loss must not exceed 1%, equity must remain strictly above the 2% Static Maximum Loss floor, and the largest single-trade profit must remain strictly below 20% of total profit.

What counts as prohibited behavior?

Restricted or prohibited behavior refers to trading or account practices that can trigger review, restriction or account action under the AIFO rule framework. Review the current prohibited-trading guidance before using a strategy, automation tool or account setup that may create uncertainty.

Are Expert Advisors allowed under AIFO rules?

Expert Advisors may be used only where the selected AIFO account’s current rules explicitly permit them. Any permitted use remains subject to applicable eligibility, server-order, originality and prohibited-strategy restrictions.
